Therapy Approach
Dr. Pacos's theoretical approach is based on Cognitive Behavioral Theory. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps individuals to recognize how their assumptions and beliefs contribute to negative emotions, and how to overcome psychological suffering by changing these negative thoughts. CBT is supportive, interactive and direct. Dr. Pacos will make specific suggestions and focus on changing particular problems. In CBT, Dr. Pacos and her clients are "partners" and work together during treatment. CBT is relatively brief in duration and includes strategies for measuring progress so treatment techniques can be altered for maximum effectiveness. The goals of treatment include not only alleviation of symptoms, but also coming to an understanding of the source of psychological stress and your reactions to that stress
